I've always had a penchant to want to try "mom & pop" type restaurants, and here in SA, you'll find the greatest Mexican food in exactly those types of establishments. Such is the Case with Tequila Jalisco.
Now, I don't spend a ton of time on the South side of town, but my job brings me down there a couple times a week. One night, dinner time, and I drove past and decided I would try it. It's a simple unassuming place, as most are, but I have to say I have been very impressed.
The first time I was in, I had to try the Chile Relleno. Outstanding! Benas and rice were pretty standard... but probably my favorite was the tortillas. The were as "homestyle" as it gets... they had abuelita (little grandma for those who don't do Spanish) written all over them. I was also a big fan of the hot sauce that they serve before the meal. It's wonderful! It's more like a ranchero sauce than a traditional salsa, but it has a great flavor about it. Not incredibly spicy, but good nonetheless. With the meal there's another, a salsa verde, that is served. Good and hot. Timmy like.
The next time I went in, I grabbed a giant burrito with chicken fajita meat. Again, very good (but next time, maybe something a little more traditional).
There is nothing on the menu more than nine bucks, so that definitely figures into my 4 star rating. Both times I have gone I have paid about the same amount I would doing a drive by at a burger place. It's a nice change of pace. Now, this isn't the healthiest food around, but at the same time I did not feel as if my arteries were going to form a lynch mob asnd come after me for the beating I had just given them.
Overall I have to say that the service is very good as well. I was amazed both times at how quickly my food was brought out to me. The servers seem to be very sweet, but a word of caution... if you no habla Espanol, you might be in trouble! Tonight's outing netted me a server with worse English than my Spanish, so I had to do my best to get the numero veinte y cuatro, y te (un grande te).
Don't let that scare you away though, if it does, you're missing out. -

Came here because apparently the owner of The Lions Club runs this place. But this place is terrible. Tortillas taste and feel like they got them from Walmart or something. The beans appeared like rosarita beans from the store, not home made. The carne guisada was prepared like barbacoa and looked nothing like what I order from other Mexican restaurants. There was also literally no one in the place and my food still took a good 15 to 20 minutes to come to the table after I ordered. Also, despite having 4 waitresses when I walked in none of them never returned to refill my tea. Besides all that the place is clean and nice looking inside. The parking is a bit confusing in the front because there is no lines so parking is a free for all. Definitely never coming here again. Wouldn't even recommend if you come just to try tacos.

I don't understand why this place continues to have a drive thru if they clearly can't handle it. The past two times I've been here (roughly from 9-10am) there's only been 2-3 cars in front of me and I wait at least 15-20 mins in line. Last time the girl at drive thru disappeared with my credit card for 10 mins while I waited at the window (really sketchy) She also has a bad attitude and tells me my price, hands food, slams window. Had to wait for her to come back to ask for my card back.
When I went to pick up my food the contents of the brown paper bag spilled all over my car seat. The food was carelessly packaged and resulted in a mess on my passenger car seat.
Conclusion :
Food is mediocre - nothing special
Customer service - could do w/o the rude drive thru employee
And the drive thru is a lost cause -

The food here is very good. The Enchiladas Verde were amazing! The Gordita plate was good also. Our waitress was very nice and kept checking up on us, which is great. The only complaint I have is that the red sauce on the Enchiladas Mexicana, along with the red sauce on the potatoes, was cold. I told the waitress that the red sauce was very cold and not warm at all. If felt as though they had literally taken it out of the refrigerator. The waitress told the owner who was very pleasant. She took it and had it warmed up. The staff here are very nice. I will definitely go back there.

This place has tasty specials! Try the breakfast huevos rancheros w/bacon, potatoes, beans & coffee for $3.99! I've also tried the lunch specials Huarache de asada, chile relleno, chicken fajita qesadilla & they were very tasty (not like common taquerias at all). They also have weekend specials! try them & save money!
